We often hear about the women who stayed in threatening relationships after them being murdered.<\/strong><\/p>\nThe higher the level of education and experience women have, the more they get discriminated from wage to their promotion; that is why the low pay for female instructors in Universities to female workers anywhere in any field is ongoing; and we even witnessed a man with no experience\/credibility in politics won election in the US opposite a woman who had 30 some years experience in the field.<\/strong><\/p>\nMeanwhile, working women still struggle to make time for themselves due to their double shift at home and work. We published a magazine called \u2018attem\u2019 back in 2005 with the goal to claim our space and share our lived experiences, seeking out for fellow immigrant women writers of that time. It was discontinued ironically due to the very same obstacles. Later we collected, compiled and published a poetry anthology in 2009 with female poets of Sri Lankan\/Tamil Origin. Interestingly most of the women who wrote in that magazine and the anthology are not active in their writing or in their communities as they were at the time of those releases.<\/strong><\/p>\nAs women, the efforts to create\/claim our space however is a problem of existence. We thrive through our struggle and resistance to voice our lived experiences since they are ours and thus only we could represent them fairly. \u00a0With the lessons from the past, to claim again what is ours we are back in our fierce and fiery form! This ezine will be updated bimonthly by the issue\u2019s editor as well as occasionally by our guest bloggers\/contributors\/columnists. The posts will contain literary works as well as introduction and translation of new thoughts in regards to feminism, nationalism, indigenous rights, and activism.
